Bloomberg: digital PlayStation 5 will be under $ 400, and Nintendo is preparing Switch with 4K
Bloomberg recently reported that Sony has trimmed its PlayStation 5 plans by 4 million to about 11 million units this fiscal year due to a shortage of AMD SoCs. At the same time, Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Masahiro Wakasugi made a forecast for the prices of the new system.
Microsoft last week announced rather aggressive prices for its two next-generation consoles: Xbox Series S will sell for $ 299 (in Russia – 26,990 ₽), and Xbox Series X – for $ 499 (45,590 ₽). This puts additional pressure on Sony. Pre-orders for the new Xbox models begin on September 22nd.
Sony is expected to announce its launch and pricing plans for the PlayStation 5 during an official video presentation scheduled for Wednesday. According to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst, a full PS5 console can cost as little as $ 449, while a thinner digital version sells for under $ 400.
At the same time, Bloomberg reported that Nintendo plans to release an updated version of its Switch portable stationary console in 2021, equipped with improved components and possibly support for 4K output. The launch of the platform will be accompanied by a number of major new games, which will increase competition and make it difficult for Sony and Microsoft to attract players to their new systems.
