It’s meant for the city
The small electric BMW CE 02 was introduced two years ago as a concept. And now it has become a serial product.
CE 02 is really quite small and inferior in size even to some scooters. The novelty weighs 132 kg. BMW itself says it’s “an electric vehicle designed for young people, and it’s not an electric motorcycle or an electric scooter. This is an eParkourer built for the urban environment.” However, this is only positioning, while according to the law it is still a motorcycle with all the consequences.
BMW CE 02 production electric mini-motorcycle introduced
With CE 02, we are aiming for something new at BMW Motorrad and we want to be pioneers again. With its unusual proportions and striking design, the new CE 02 represents an uncomplicated, youthful form of single-track mobility. The minimalistic design language means lightness and fun. The focus is not on utility but on emotional appeal, driving fun and uncomplicated, almost intuitive use.
Top speed is limited to 95 km/h, so this is primarily a city vehicle. A pair of batteries with a total capacity of 3.92 kWh provides a range of only 90 km, which also speaks of urban use. Engine power is 11 kW or 15 hp. It will take 3.5 to 5 hours to fully charge the battery, depending on the power of the charger, but BMW says about a charge of 20% to 80%, which takes 2.3-2.8 hours.
The bike costs $8,000, making it the cheapest BMW electric motorcycle.
