Canon EOS R3 Professional Mirrorless Camera Designed for Sports and Reportage Shooting Announced
The company does not go into details but mentions the use of a proprietary image sensor. A back-illuminated CMOS sensor with multilayer technology and a high-performance Digic X image processor enables continuous shooting at 30 fps with tracking focus and metering. The autofocus system will be equipped with eye, head, and body recognition functions.
The EOS R3 will use an improved version of technology pioneered in the Canon EOS 5. It is about selecting and moving the focus point using the eye that looks through the viewfinder. This is said to be faster and more natural than using buttons on the camera body, which can be especially useful for news and sports photographers.
Of course, given the application, the EOS R3 will be rugged, dust and moisture resistant, and well suited for landscape and portrait photography.
