Work on the Il-114 was suspended due to the crash of the Il-112V, equipped with the same engines
In the Russian aviation industry, work in the direction of civil aviation is being intensified. For example, the PD-8 engine for the SSJ New aircraft is planned to be certified 16 months ahead of the promised date . And now, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov said that certification flights of the newest regional passenger aircraft Il-114-300 will resume in the near future.
Certification flights of the latest Il-114-300 passenger aircraft will be resumed in the near future.
« IL-114-300, 68 passengers. I think that in the near future we will resume certification flights. Now the aircraft has started frequency testing ,” said Oleg Bocharov at a meeting on the development of the aviation industry. He also added that the delay is due to the refinement of the aircraft engine.
The IL-114 is equipped with the same TVS117-ST engine as the IL-112V. And the only flight copy of the Il-112V crashed in August 2021 due to an engine fire – then all three crew members died. Earlier, the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, said that the Voronezh Joint-Stock Aircraft Building Company had stopped the assembly of the Il-112V due to the need to refine the engine . In December 2022, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on additional capitalization of the United Aircraft Corporation for 158.2 million rubles to develop the Il-114 engine.
