Charting a New Course: The Caribbean Travel Forum 2024 Reimagines Tourism for the Region

The Caribbean, a haven for sun-drenched beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant cultures, is a perennial favorite for travelers worldwide. However, the tourism industry, a critical economic driver for the region, needs to adapt and evolve to thrive in the ever-changing travel landscape.

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) is at the forefront of this evolution. Their annual Caribbean Travel Forum, the third edition of which takes place on May 20th, 2024, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, serves as a vital platform for industry leaders to discuss strategies and opportunities to ensure the continued success of Caribbean tourism.

A Gathering of Visionaries

The forum brings together a distinguished group of regional and international thought leaders, including government ministers, tourism executives, hospitality experts, and travel writers. This esteemed panel will share their insights, experiences, and forecasts for the Caribbean tourism industry.

His extensive experience and knowledge, gleaned from authoring 10 books and contributing to prestigious travel publications, will provide a well-rounded perspective on navigating the future of Caribbean tourism.

CHTA President Nicola Madden-Greig will deliver the State of the Industry address, presenting key data and trends from CHTA’s annual Performance and Outlook Survey. This data will showcase the resilience and growth of the industry while highlighting ongoing challenges that require attention. Additionally, the official launch of the CHTA Construction and Pipeline Report will shed light on upcoming developments in the region.

Further enriching the forum will be presentations by leading figures from the public and private sectors, including:

  • Government Officials: Gain valuable perspectives from tourism ministers like Kenneth Bryan (Cayman Islands) and Edmund Bartlett (Jamaica) as they discuss policy and strategic direction.
  • Industry Experts: Hear from hospitality giants like Sheila Johnson (Salamander Hotels and Resorts) and Adam Stewart (Sandals Resorts International) on operational best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Data Specialists: Insights from Nataliya Mylenko (World Bank) and Olivier Ponti (ForwardKeys) will inform data-driven decision making for the future of Caribbean tourism.
  • Technology Leaders: Gain insights from Frank Wolfe (HFTP) on leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and guest experiences.

A Multi-Faceted Approach to Success

The forum’s agenda delves into a comprehensive range of topics critical to the success of Caribbean tourism. Key areas of focus include:

  • Leveraging Data Insights: Utilizing data to understand traveler preferences, market trends, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Enhancing Multi-Destination Marketing: Developing collaborative marketing strategies to showcase the diverse offerings of multiple Caribbean destinations.
  • Boosting Intra-Caribbean Travel: Encouraging more travel within the Caribbean region itself, benefiting both travelers and economies.
