An all-wheel drive version is expected by the end of the year
Live photos of the Baojun Yep electric mini-crossover in the parking lot and on the roads of use in China were published by Carnewschina.
The Baojun Yep, dubbed the “Chinese Suzuki Jimny” after the announcement, is produced by a joint venture between General Motors, SAIC and Wuling.
Baojun Yep is a compact 3-door four-seater with dimensions of 3381 x 1685 x 1721 mm, a wheelbase of 2110 mm and an curb weight of 1006 kg. The car is 0.6 meters shorter than the Suzuki Jimmy, which has dimensions of 3985 x 1645 x 1720 mm with a wheelbase of 2250 mm.

The electric car is equipped with a single electric motor located at the rear and can develop a maximum power output of 68 horsepower and generate a maximum torque of 140 Nm. According to the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the People’s Republic of China, the motor manufacturer is Shuanglin Group. The car can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h. A twin-engine, all-wheel-drive version is also in development and will be unveiled later this year.
The Baojun Yep is powered by a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery that allows for a range of 303 kilometers on the CLTC cycle.
The car will be shown at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, with deliveries starting in May.
