Dell Launches First Alienware AMD Gaming Laptop in 14 Years
Dell has officially unveiled the Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen Edition gaming laptop. The last time an AMD processor powered the Alienware gaming laptop was in 2007. It was an Alienware male model based on an AMD Turion 64 ML-44 chip. For the new product of 2021, the manufacturer is ready to choose one of two chips – Ryzen 7 5800H and Ryzen 9 5900HX. Both are octa-core and have a standard 45W TDP. The former offers a maximum frequency of 4.4 GHz, the latter 4.6 GHz.
As a graphics subsystem, the Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen Edition is ready to offer mobile versions of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or GeForce RTX 3070. For each of them, the declared TDP level can be 115 watts. NVIDIA Dynamic Boost technology, which increases the frequency and performance in games, can add another 10 watts to the declared TDP.
Also, the laptop is ready to offer up to 32 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and up to two NVMe solid-state drives with a total volume of up to 4 TB. The manufacturer offers an Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen Edition embodiment of three 15.6-inch display: a Full HD resolution and refresh rate of 165 or 360 Hz and a brightness level of 300 cd / m 2, and the panel with a resolution of 1440p, 240Hz, and brightness 400 cd / m 2. For the last two variants, support for NVIDIA G-Sync technology is declared. The 1440p version of the display offers 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Full HD is claimed to have 100% sRGB coverage.
The set of external interfaces for the Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen Edition gaming laptop includes two USB 3.2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Type-A, and an HDMI 2.1 interface, a combo audio jack, and a 2.5 Gigabit network adapter. Wireless networking capabilities of the new product provide support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 standards.
In China and the US, the Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen Edition gaming laptop will launch on April 20. The portable gaming station will start at $ 1795. In other countries, the novelty will go on sale from May 4.
