It will be installed on the 2024 Camaro ZL1
Chevrolet built the last supercharged LT4 V8 engine for the 2024 Camaro ZL1 before it was discontinued.
A photo of engineer Billy Burke with the rest of the team and the engine was posted on social media.
The 6.2-liter engine, which produces 650 horsepower and 881 pound-feet of torque, was built in mid-November, according to Chevy. At this point, it’s unclear whether the Camaro ZL1 it’s intended for has been assembled, or whether Chevy has any plans to turn the sale of the car into some kind of special event, such as an auction. Chevrolet has so far declined to share details about the fate of the final ZL1.
End of an era: Chevrolet built the last LT4 V8 engine for the Camaro
The LT4 first appeared in the C7-generation Chevy Corvette Z06 in 2015. A year later, it debuted in the Cadillac CTS-V, and in 2017 it appeared in the Camaro ZL1. While the LT4 Z06 used a dry-sump lubrication system, the LT4 found in the CTS-V and ZL1 uses a more traditional wet-sump system.
With the end of ZL1 production, there are only two cars left with the factory ZL1 powertrain: the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and the Cadillac Escalade V. The Blackwing version makes 668 hp, while the LT4 in the Escalade makes an even more impressive 682 hp. thanks to a more powerful supercharger.
