EVGA will overclock the GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra GPU to an impressive 1800 MHz

EVGA has not yet revealed the technical specifications of its GeForce RTX 30xx series graphics cards. The company’s website is still missing information on the operating frequencies of the graphics accelerators, which it presented last week. However, thanks to the American retailer Newegg it became known that the GPU frequency of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra model will be 1.8 GHz.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra is a large graphics card. Its length is 30 cm, and its height is 13.6 cm. In the system unit, the new product will occupy 2.75 (technically 3) expansion slots.

For cooling, the card uses a new CO ICX3 with three fans, as well as a metal plate on the back. The CO shroud houses a catchy EVGA header, backlit with an RGB backlit insert. For additional power, the card is equipped with three 8-pin PCI-E connectors.

The store’s website states that the frequency of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra graphics processor under load can reach 1.8 GHz. At the moment, this makes it the fastest among other GeForce RTX 3080 models.

Previously, this title belonged to the GeForce RTX 3080  EX Gamer model from Galax. The latter allows, through its proprietary software, to automatically increase the frequency of the graphics processor of this model up to 1770 MHz.

Earlier it was reported that EVGA is going to release 11 models of GeForce RTX 30 series video cards at once. At the moment, information is known about the following versions of the RTX 3080:

  • EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra (10G-P5-3897-KR): 1800 MHz GPU;
  • EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 (10G-P5-3895-KR): GPU frequency 1755 MHz;
  • EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra (10G-P5-3885-KR): GPU frequency 1755 MHz;
  • EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 (10G-P5-3883-KR): GPU frequency 1710 MHz;
  • EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Black (10G-P5-3881-KR): GPU frequency 1710 MHz.

The manufacturer still hasn’t shared any information about the KINGPIN, Hydro Copper, and HYBRID series. The RTX 3080 XC3 series of graphics cards will be available in three versions: XC3 Ultra, XC3, and XC3 Black. At the moment it is known that the length of each is 28.5 cm. In this case, each model will occupy 2.2 expansion slots.

Not only EVGA is silent about the technical characteristics of its solutions based on the GeForce RTX 30 series. NVIDIA, apparently, has imposed a ban on the publication of full information about video cards before the official release of reference samples of GeForce 3080 models.

For example, nothing is known about potentially one of the most popular RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio models from MSI. Video cards of this series have traditionally been distinguished by higher operating frequencies of the GPU and memory compared to the reference values. ASUS, in turn, updated the page for the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 OC video card on its official website, where it indicated that the effective GPU frequency of this version is 1740 MHz. Not impressive yet. However, the manufacturer plans to introduce the faster ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 model later, labeled TOP.
