The screws will have to be hidden in the case

Xpeng AeroHT is a company founded in 2013 with the financial support of Xpeng CEO He Xiaoping. In 2016, AeroHT developed its first aircraft, which looked like a large drone. It was followed by five generations of AeroHT devices, also resembling drones. In 2021, the company announced that the 6th generation will be a real flying car.

The new car combines flight and driving scenarios. In appearance, it is close to a two-door coupe. It has a short hood line that extends into the A-pillars. It has transparent doors, which increases visibility during flight. At the rear, this car features Xpeng lettering, LED lights, and massive air vents.

This flying car uses cameras instead of mirrors. Its wheels are covered with aerodynamic covers. The prototype has no visible door handles. All this serves to reduce air resistance while flying or driving.

The main feature of this prototype is the rotors located on its roof. There are a total of eight rotors attached to the frame. In this case, the screws can be hidden in the body when the car is on the ground. However, so far this feature has only been demonstrated in renderings. The actual prototype shown during Tech Day failed to show the system in action.

Xpeng AeroHT said the flying car will weigh about 1,000 kg. Its market debut was scheduled for 2024 for $137,000. Today, the latest BYD Yangwang U8 SUV is offered for that kind of money.
