First Steps: Facebook Unveils Cinematic Trailer for Oculus Quest 2

Facebook continues to promote its standalone Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset. The company has released a fresh First Steps ad, which makes it feel like the player seamlessly moves from reality to completely different virtual worlds.

The entire trailer is cinematic, so don’t count on showing real graphics and gameplay – everything is heavily embellished. The heroine returns home from a walk with her dog, passing a dull corridor of an apartment building, feeding her pet and, stuffing a traditional attachment under the bedside table, practically puts on a virtual reality helmet from the doorway.

With the help of Oculus Quest 2, she goes straight to Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge. This is an action-adventure based on Star Wars, in which the player is asked to protect the cargo from the villains of the Guavian Death Gang, meeting various characters along the way, such as C-3PO, R2-D2, Yoda and many others.

Then the viewer, along with the helmet operator, moves between the zombie thriller The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, the military shooter Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, the Beat Saber music arcade, the Jurassic World Aftermath dinosaur adventure, the Real VR Fishing simulator, the climber simulator The Climb 2 and Population: One battle royale. In the end, taking off her helmet, the heroine of the video sees her dog holding a traditional gamepad in her teeth – realizing that she no longer needs a conventional console, the hostess does not scold the dog, but uses the game controller as an improvised dice, casually throwing it into the next room.

As a reminder, the Oculus Quest 2 starts at $ 299. The novelty is equipped with two displays with a resolution of 1832 × 1920 per eye, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 processor, has 6 GB of RAM onboard, and is also ready to offer 64 or 256 GB of permanent memory. The headset is self-contained, but with a special cable, it can also be connected to a PC. Thanks to its features and priceit surpassed last year’s Oculus Quest five times on pre-orders.
