New Nvidia is still faster, but significantly more expensive
The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card is often called the worst model of the RTX 40 line in terms of price and quality, and the version currently available has only 8 GB of memory. One of the adapter’s competitors is the Radeon RX 6700 XT accelerator, which is allocated one and a half times more memory, one and a half times wider bus, and it costs less. The authors of Hardware Unboxed decided to bring these 3D cards together in 50 games to see which one provides the best performance, including in terms of price. By the way, recently Hardware Unboxed already tested the RTX 4060 Ti, comparing it with the RTX 3060 Ti. The novelty received the status of “sucks”.
In Full HD resolution, the Nvidia adapter is ahead by 9% on average. However, in this case, the average value is not very significant. The RX 6700 XT is only faster in nine games, of which only four are significant. In two more games, the cards have parity. But the RTX 4060 Ti is ahead not only in a much larger number of games, but also in many games it is very much faster. In nine games, the novelty is faster by more than 20%, and in most of the rest, the difference is at least 10%.
But here it is worth noting that all these are the results taking into account games with ray tracing, where often Nvidia cards are just noticeably faster. Although in the new Resident Evil 4 Remake with the activation of ray tracing effects, the RX 6700 XT is 36% ahead. It’s also faster in The Last of Us Part I and Hogwarts Legacy, the latest games that are memory sensitive.
GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB versus cheaper Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB.
At 1440p, the situation is about the same: on average, the RTX 4060 Ti is 9% faster, and everything described above is true here.
But the authors summed up the results without taking into account ray tracing. In this case, in Full HD, the new Nvidia is ahead by an average of 6%, and in 1440p – by only 4%. And in this, the RTX 4060 Ti is no longer ahead of the competition in the most comfortable games for itself, as it is with active ray tracing effects.
