Gigabyte has confirmed the preparation of the GeForce RTX 3070 with 16 GB and RTX 3080 with 20 GB of memory. And the younger GeForce RTX 3060 will receive 8 GB

Gigabyte has confirmed the existence of yet unannounced GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards, which include the GeForce RTX 3080 with 20GB of video memory, the RTX 3070 with 16GB of memory, and the RTX 3060 with 8GB of memory. The information was found on a site designed to redeem a copy of the Watch Dogs: Legion game code, which is handed out for free with the purchase of new GeForce series cards.

The discovered list contains several model numbers of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series video cards made by Gigabyte. Some of them have the “S” suffix, which may indicate the Super-version of the model, which has more advanced technical characteristics compared to the regular version. In addition, the list indicates the amount of video memory for each model. The most interesting of them are:

  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Super AORUS Master 20 GB (GV-308SAORUS M-20GD);
  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming OC 20 GB (GV-308SGAMING OC-20GD);
  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Super AORUS Master 16 GB (GV-307SAORUS M-16GD);
  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Super Gaming OC 16 GB (GV-3070SGAMING OC-16GD);
  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Super Eagle OC 8 GB (GV-306SEAGLE OC-8GD).Models with doubled video memory are also available in several versions. The “OC” suffix in the marking indicates that the card has factory overclocking. Earlier, there were rumors that NVIDIA was going to release a 20 GB version of the GeForce RTX 3080 model. In this case, the card may receive not only an increased amount of memory but also a different configuration of the GPU. The list also contains a GeForce RTX 3070 model with twice the video memory, which is good news. Recall that according to NVIDIA, the standard model with 8 GB of memory will be able to provide higher performance than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti with 11 GB of memory.

    In addition, the leak from Gigabyte confirms rumors that the younger model of the series, the GeForce RTX 3060 (Super), will receive 8 GB of memory. According to the same rumors, this model will be based on a stripped-down NVIDIA GA104-200 processor, while the regular GeForce RTX 3060 model will use the GA106 chip.

    Apparently, the cards presented in the list will not replace their original versions with the originally declared amount of video memory. They will complement the GeForce RTX 30xx series, filling all possible market segments and being the answer to AMD’s Big Navi graphics cards. As a result, one should not expect new cards with increased memory capacity to sell for the same price as the standard versions. It is very likely that the cost of the same GeForce RTX 3070 model with 16 GB of memory will approach the price of the GeForce RTX 3080 with 10 GB of memory ($ 700). And the cost of the GeForce RT 3080 with 20 GB of memory, in turn, can easily approach 800-900 and even 1000 dollars.
