According to a report by Automotive News, the Jeep Renegade model is consigned to history after the 2023 model year in the United States. The off-road brand is discontinuing its small entry-level model in most of North America, pushing the slightly pricier Compass into the role with a starting price of $30,000.

A Jeep spokesperson confirmed to Automotive News that the Renegade model will be dropped. The Stellantis brand told Automotive News that it will continue to offer the Renegade in Mexico, Europe and other markets. Jeep introduced the SUV for the 2015 model year. It shares a platform with the Fiat 500X. His departure will allow the automaker to focus its resources on developing other models in the United States.

The decision to scrap the Renegade comes after years of declining sales. They reached a record high of more than 106,000 units in 2016, but have fallen every year since then. Sales fell to 27,500 units in 2022, from 47,137 units the year before.

Renegade sales fell 35% in the first nine months of 2023, with the automaker on track to end the year selling about 21,000 vehicles in the United States.
