Google’s position in the smartphone market is not impressive, with sales of its smartphones declining
Google officially unveiled the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G phones yesterday, the world’s first smartphones with Android 11 pre-installed.

The manufacturer has confirmed that these smartphones will receive three numbered operating system updates, meaning the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G are also the first smartphones to have already promised to update to Android 14.
However, Google’s position in the smartphone market is not impressive, with sales of its smartphones declining. If in 2019 a total of 7.2 million smartphones of the Google Pixel line were sold, then in 2020, according to estimates, the shipments of Pixel phones will amount to only 4.7 million units.
According to various media reports, Google plans to ship just 800,000 Pixel 5 phones this year. Moreover, the combined Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5 will be shipping around 3 million smartphones throughout the year.
It is worth noting that this year the company decided not to release the Google Pixel 5 XL model, offering fans of large screens the inexpensive Pixel 4a 5G model.
