Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Canada Returns for 2025
The Hollywood Reporter (THR) has announced the return of its Women in Entertainment Canada summit, set to take place on May 29, 2025, in Toronto. This annual event aims to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in the Canadian television, film, and music industries.
Building on Last Year’s Success
The 2025 summit will build upon the success of the inaugural event, which was held in 2024 and featured a stellar lineup of Canadian talent, including Lilly Singh, Nia Vardalos, Devery Jacobs, Kim Cattrall, Catherine Reitman, and Jully Black.
Nekesa Mumbi Moody and Maer Roshan, co-editors-in-chief of The Hollywood Reporter, expressed their enthusiasm for the event’s return: “The inaugural WIE Canada was a huge success, and a wonderful extension of our premiere event. We are delighted to see it return for its second year, and to continue this amazing partnership we have forged. To have the chance to celebrate the amazing achievements of Canadian women in this industry is a wonderful opportunity and we are incredibly honored to be a part of this.”
A Collaborative Effort
The Hollywood Reporter has partnered with Access Canada to bring this event to life. Ferne Cohen, president of Access Canada, shared her excitement about the collaboration: “Access Canada is thrilled to announce the return of Women in Entertainment Canada for 2025. We are proud to continue our collaboration with The Hollywood Reporter to highlight the incredible women of the Canadian entertainment industry. We remain committed to presenting an authentically Canadian, impactful, and uplifting event inspired by The Hollywood Reporter’s great legacy.”
A Focus on Gender Equity
In addition to celebrating women’s achievements, the 2025 WIE Canada event will also focus on addressing gender inequality in the entertainment industry. THR will publish its second annual Canadian Women in Entertainment power list to highlight the progress made and the challenges that still remain.
A Platform for Mentorship and Networking
Beyond keynote speeches, panel discussions, and award ceremonies, the event will also include a mentorship program, providing valuable opportunities for aspiring women in the industry to connect with experienced professionals.
A Bright Future for Women in Canadian Entertainment
The Women in Entertainment Canada summit is a significant step towards empowering women in the Canadian entertainment industry. By recognizing and celebrating their achievements, and by providing opportunities for networking and mentorship, the event aims to inspire the next generation of female talent.
