Honor today launched the Magic V2 foldable smartphone in China. By the combination of characteristics, it can be called the most advanced smartphone in its class. And judging by the preliminary specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, which leaked reliable insiders, Magic V2 may remain the most advanced after the release of the main competitor.
The creators call Honor Magic V2 the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world. The thickness of the device is 9.9 mm – and this is when folded. Some conventional smartphones are indeed thicker. The mass is comparable to the mass of conventional flagships – 231 grams. For comparison: the mass of Honor Magic5 Pro is 219 grams.
Both the outer and inner screens occupy more than 90% of the area of the corresponding part of the case. The inner aspect ratio is 20:9, while the outer aspect ratio is 9.8:9. The Magic V2 is also the first smartphone to support both screens at 120Hz. But even something else is much more interesting – the PWM adjustment frequency of both screens is 3840 Hz. That is, they can be called non-flickering.
A 6.43-inch 2376 x 1060 pixel outdoor OLED screen manufactured by BOED. It provides coverage of 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, peak brightness – 2500 cd / sq.m.

The inner screen is also with an OLED panel from BOE. Here the diagonal is 7.92 inches, the resolution is 2344 x 2156 pixels, the peak brightness is 1600 cd / sq.m.
Since the Honor Magic V2 is built on the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Advanced Edition SoC (Arm Cortex-X3 super-core frequency is increased to 3.36 GHz), it can also be called the most powerful foldable smartphone in the world. Software – Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2 interface. The smartphone received a proprietary chip that improves Wi-Fi reception.
There are two front cameras – they are embedded in the outer and inner screens. Resolution – 16 MP. The main camera – with sensors with a resolution of 50, 50 and 20 megapixels (in the module with the latter – a telephoto lens that provides zoom up to 40x).
Honor Magic V2 in the basic version with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory was priced at $ 1255. There are also 16/512GB versions for $1395 and 16GB/1TB for $1670. Pre-sales in China will start on July 12, real retail on July 20.
