Production takes place near Chennai
The American company Google, together with Hewlett Packard, entered into a partnership, within which the production of Chromebooks began in India.
This partnership aims to improve the provision of cost-effective, secure, and high-quality computing devices to education authorities, schools, and institutions, and to bring new products to more students.
The Flex plant, located near Chennai, where HP has been manufacturing a variety of laptops and desktops since August 2020, will produce Chromebooks. Today, October 2, 2023, HP Chromebooks began production there.
HP begins production of affordable Chromebooks in India
Google says Chromebooks help more than 5 million students and teachers around the world and are the leading devices in K-12 education. Chromebooks have built-in accessibility and security features.
Vikram Bedi, Senior Director, of Personal Systems, HP India, said, “HP is committed to promoting digital equity and we have many initiatives underway to provide digital education across India. Manufacturing Chromebooks in India will enable Indian students to have easy access to affordable PCs.”
