Huawei is forced to migrate to MediaTek: presented the Maimang 9 5G smartphone on the Dimensity 800 processor

Maimang 9 has a beautiful ergonomic design with a curved back panel, which provides a comfortable and confident grip, which is important for a smartphone of this size. The device is 8.9 mm thick and weighs 212 grams. The 6.8-inch Full HD + screen has a 20: 9 aspect ratio. In its upper left corner is a round hole for the front camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2.0. According to Huawei, the display takes up 90.3% of the device’s bezel.

The main camera is a triple module with 64-, 8- and 2-megapixel sensors. The main 64-megapixel sensor is complemented by an ultra-wide-angle camera and a depth sensor. Video recording is carried out in 4K resolution.

In terms of the chipset, Maimang 9 uses a relatively new solution from MediaTek. Its heart is the Dimensity 800 processor with support for fifth-generation networks. Previously, Huawei used MediaTek processors mainly in entry-level smartphones. The devices of the middle price category, to which the novelty belongs, were already equipped with proprietary Huawei HiSilicon chips. But sanctions from the United States put an end to the production of these processors and forced Huawei to look for alternatives, for example, in MediaTek processors.  

Maimang 9 is available in versions with 6 and 8 GB of RAM. The storage volume is 128 GB. The smartphone has a 4,300mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging. The operating system is Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 shell. The smartphone boasts a microSD card slot and a fingerprint sensor located on the side.
