After more than a year and a half, HUAWEI returned to the mobile market with a new smartphone from the P series that sold so much before the American ban. It is still top of the class on cameras, and its new operating system has made great strides.

HUAWEI P50 Pro
HUAWEI P50 Pro

HUAWEI is perhaps the most tenacious company on the world market right now. We are talking about a Chinese company created from scratch and which in a few years has managed to reach the top in terms of quality and sales among thirsty smartphone manufacturers globally. And then suddenly a ban by the President of the USA, Donald Trump, hit her hard, losing what all users nowadays expect to use in a smartphone: Google services and everything that revolves around them. ..

A loss that would have nullified anyone but HUAWEI. From the laboratories in Shenzhen, we rolled up our sleeves. Within a few months, a solution was created capable of allowing the company to survive and throw itself back into the world of smartphones and beyond. Yes, because HarmonyOS, the proprietary operating system created ad hoc by Chinese engineers, has made it possible not only to use the company’s mobile devices still Today but also to expand the product portfolio with IoT devices capable of organizing that ecosystem that only Apple over the years it has managed to do. +

Today, we are faced with the presentation of the new HUAWEI P50 Pro, a renewed smartphone of the Chinese company that is part of a series that has achieved records not only in sales but also and above all in quality. The photographic sector and the innovation in hardware have always made their way in the users who have rewarded HUAWEI by choosing these devices.

HUAWEI P50 Pro takes all the experience of the years of HUAWEI. It proposes it in the guise of a premium smartphone with a genuinely shrewd eye to the Shenzhen company’s real plus: the camera. And we will see that inevitably the results of this HUAWEI P50 Pro will be unsettling for quality and technological innovation. Having this smartphone in your hands means going beyond the usual mobile photography and working on quality content that often still can hardly be produced with a phone.

As always, HUAWEI is not limited to the number of sensors but not even to the same quality. Here is LEICA to collaborate with the Chinese company that offers a quad-camera with revolutionary HUAWEI XD Optics: A 50 Megapixel wide-angle sensor stands out that pushes the focal aperture to f / 1.8. Then there is a 13MP Ultra Wide Angle sensor, a little more classic but with f / 2.2 and therefore good opening even in low light. And then again, a 64MP periscope sensor (f / 3.5) with the possibility of having optical image stabilization and 3.5x optical zoom that can even reach 100x digital. Last but only in chronological order is the the40MP sensor of the “ Black and white ” type guarantees native single-color shots. But in this case, as we will see, the image processing systems such as HUAWEI XD Optics and HUAWEI XD Fusion Pro are the masters that will push post-production to a superior level of sharpness, dynamic range, and intelligent functionality.

And suppose this robust photographic sector does justice to the scepter of the best photographic smartphone of the moment. In that case, HUAWEI P50 Pro has many other advantages, such as being powerful thanks to the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor8GB of DDR5 RAM, and still a display. It was curved on the sides of excellent quality and had a refresh rate of up to 120Hz of adaptive type

We are sure that you are wondering how its operating system works and how we got along with the HUAWEI P50 Pro without the services of Google. The answer is not trivial because it is clear that Google is missing for those who actually cannot do without it, even if there are so many ways that allow you to have it anyway, but what we will underline in the review is the excellent work carried out by HUAWEI that has managed to create an ecosystem that allows you to live, and not survive. It did so in a few years, which was not achieved by anyone other than Apple, but that’s another story.

Let’s not dwell too much but let’s see in practice how this new HUAWEI P50 Pro works and actually why we consider it one of the best camera phones of the moment in many respects.

HUAWEI P50 Pro: price and launch promo

HUAWEI P50 Pro is sold in only one version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory that can no longer be integrated with NMCard cards, as was the case in the past.

  • HUAWEI P50 Pro 8GB + 256GB: € 1,199.99

All those who pre-order and purchase the HUAWEI P50 Pro at the official store of the Chinese company will exclusively receive the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro adaptive noise-canceling earphones with a commercial value of 179 €. The promotion is valid from January 26th to February 28th, 2022.

All purchases made on the HUAWEI Store benefit from the free express delivery service. The devices will be delivered to the user within one or two working days. In addition to a constantly updated showcase with Huawei promotions, the brand’s e-commerce allows users to manage online payments in total safety or choose to pay in installments with the new Klarna function in three interest-free installments. Furthermore, for anyone who is not satisfied with their purchase on the Huawei Store, it is possible to manage the return of products for free within 14 days of purchase.

UNBOXING

The original equipment is relatively standard, including the bare minimum for a complete user experience with the terminal. In our endowment, we have received:

  • HUAWEI P50 Pro the 66W SuperCharge charger, a Type-C cable, the tool for ejecting the SIM tray, and now no type of headset. There is also a helpful but straightforward transparent polycarbonate case for those who prefer to protect the smartphone without exaggerating the design coverage.

The smartphone is exposed to the user as soon as the box’s lid is removed, made of cardboard and super minimalist. On the front, we see a new slogan with a double circle that recalls the structure of the rear camera of the Huawei smartphone and the name of the Device written with a character in reflective material.

DESIGN: a premium smartphone

HUAWEI P50 Pro is a smartphone that certainly stands out from the crowd with that important double-circle structure that characterizes the photographic sector and that the company calls Dual-Matrix Camera. HUAWEI has always tried to distinguish its P series devices by marking them in one of the company’s distinctive points. And here, too, he decides to do the same by proposing a double circle that is the slogan of the new smartphone and that we will also find in the new folding HUAWEI P50 Pocket.

The lines of the HUAWEI P50 Pro are lines that make you immediately recognize that you are in front of a phone from the Shenzhen company. The 3D curved screen on the two long sides with an aluminum frame with strongly rounded corners. There is always detailed design and construction work by the Chinese company that always makes the smartphone fascinating, guaranteeing premium quality both from a visual and tactile point of view. In this case, taken in hand, HUAWEI P50 Pro is ergonomic thanks to these curvatures on the sides that allow not only to grip but also to allow the fingers to slide more easily.

HUAWEI P50 Pro is a certified smartphone against water and dust with IP68 certification. This means that it will be possible to use it consistently and even in more or less demanding situations. This is an aspect not to be underestimated since premium devices are often delicate and not all certified, even for slightly more extreme use. The HUAWEI P50 Pro we tested has this particular Cocoa Gold color that conveys elegance with a hint of originality thanks to the reflections in direct sunlight. There is also a Golden Black version, wholly black but with the double camera ring surrounded by golden lines.

On the front, unlike the past P40 Pro, there is a single hole that is no longer elongated and placed in the center where a 13MP selfie cam has been positioned which is also used for facial unlocking. The hole is minimally invasive and during the use of the display with multimedia contents it is easy not to notice its presence. There is no notification LED on the P50 Pro, but it is possible to enable the screen in “Always On” mode which does not consume too much energy and above all guarantees the user to always have the vision of information such as notifications and more.

Also present at the front is the optical fingerprint sensor placed clearly below the OLED display. This has undergone an important upgrade at a technical level with an improvement over past generations notable both in terms of its size and speed of use. Today HUAWEI guarantees us to have one of the fastest and most comfortable sensors for unlocking the smartphone. The area lights up to the touch and the reader is quick to recognize and therefore unlock the P50 Pro.

On the back is the important structure of the cameras made in collaboration with Leica. HUAWEI has tried to work hard over the years to improve the edges of the structure, especially trying to eliminate what could become sharp protrusions. The design has paid off and the Dual-Matrix Camera is cumbersome on an aesthetic level but less than other competitors and above all it is not very thick with the advantage of better stability with the smartphone placed on a surface. It certainly takes up space on the back cover but on an aesthetic level we cannot fail to consider this original stylistic choice.

As for the rest of the Device we have in the upper part a microphone used for video capture and for noise cancellation and the infrared IR sensor to control TV or other devices. Nothing on the left side while the volume rocker and the power key are on the right. The lower part is instead occupied by the speaker, the USB-C port and the trolley for the nanoSIM.

HUAWEI P50 Pro enables a premium experience. We liked the materials chosen and their use as a whole. Thanks to all the curves present it is much more subtle than can be seen from the images. It is a demanding phone especially in this glossy version where unfortunately the only negative note are the fingerprints which, however, can be easily removed with a swipe of the hand.

DISPLAY: large and with 120Hz refresh rate

HUAWEI has long considered the adoption of an increased refresh rate for its displays capable of making content even more fluid and therefore more usable to users. Here, unlike what has been done with the past P40 Pro, the company offers an adaptive OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz . This means that the artificial intelligence created by HUAWEI allows you to understand if there is a need to push the display to high refresh rates, because maybe you are watching a quality movie or playing a graphically important game, or keep the panel at low refresh rates because the user is reading a web page or document.

On a technical level we have a 6.6-inch panel (91.3% ratio between screen and body) with an effective resolution of 2,700 x 1,228 pixels that allows us to reach an optimal pixel density of 450ppi with a form factor equal to 19 , 8: 9. As mentioned, the notch also changes. Here the company again proposes a single hole no longer extended and horizontally elongated which is less important in terms of size even if unlike the P40 Pro here it is able to accommodate only the selfie camera sensor and no longer the ToF sensor and the IR infrared sensor in addition to the one for ambient light. Its small size clearly helps to reduce the impact on the eyes with little surface area occupied by the hole.

At the level of tests we measured a maximum brightness of 828 nits. A result in line with most of the OLEDs on the market and excellent for both indoor and outdoor use. On top of that, support for up to 1.07 billion colors allows for a fulfilling HDR experience. In practice, the use of the 120Hz refresh rate allows you to achieve a fluidity never seen here. Excellent in transitions from one app to another but above all excellent in scrolling some web page or even in scrolling quality content.

The smartphone makes use of two modes, Intense and Normal , whose white point is in both cases configurable by the user by hand or through two further settings for the color temperature: Cold and Warm. As often happens on smartphones, the two modes refer to a standard: Intense is very close to the P3, Normal instead to the sRGB standard, less extensive and which allows you to reproduce lower levels in terms of saturation. The Intense modeof P50 Pro is accurate in terms of saturation, with small divergences from the standard in some of the primary and secondary colors, while the sRGB mode is very precise. While the Intense mode is preferred in everyday use for the feeling of greater vividness, professionals who need to postproduce photos and videos on the fly may prefer the Normal mode.

The same goes for the preferable chromatic fidelity in the Normal mode even if both are precise from this point of view. The panel of Huawei P50 Pro offers an incredible rendering on an empirical level, with the differences compared to other panels in the category that are really difficult to see with the naked eye, if not impossible for the less trained eye. The display of the P50 Pro clearly supports HDR10 + and we cannot deny that we are facing a very well balanced device, with its few weaknesses overwhelmingly mitigated by its excellent results in almost all test attributes.

Technical analysis

Through our colorimeter analysis we found that the HUAWEI P50 Pro manages to reach a maximum luminance of 828 nits , combined with a very high contrast ratio thanks to the presence of an OLED-type panel. Tested every day, with characteristics of this type, it is never difficult to view the contents on the screen, even in a very bright environment. Other smartphones do better in terms of maximum luminance, however where HUAWEI’s new flagship excels is in color calibration.

Graphs of the colorimeter tests

As we have already anticipated, the color rendering of the HUAWEI P50 Pro display is excellent from all points of view. In our tests we recorded, in the “Normal” display mode (which enables the sRGB profile or the DCI-P3 profile based on the content viewed on the screen), a particularly correct maximum saturation on all primary and complementary colors and an excellent balance of white, together with a perfect tonal progression regarding the shades of whites.

On the colors of the Macbeth Color Checker we recorded a DeltaE of about 1.6 , one of the best values found on smartphones. This result places the P50 Pro display at very high levels, making it suitable even for semi-professional photo editing. The smartphone also offers the “Intense” calibration , which exploits all the potential of the panel even going beyond the limits of the DCI-P3 to the detriment of absolute color fidelity. This mode guarantees a more “beautiful” rendering with a colder white, although for maximum precision we recommend the “Normal” mode.

We also report the analysis of the display gamma curve in relation to the reproduction of HDR content: in this case the panel has some inaccuracies compared to the reference, with the image that is “improved” by moving away significantly from the director’s intentions. . In this case, HUAWEI prefers to increase the luminance of darker objects, in order to give them greater detail and readability, making darker scenes less difficult to see. A choice that we have often seen on the top of the range of recent generations, and that for the end user may not necessarily correspond to a flaw.

Ultimately, based on our analyzes we can say with certainty that the display of the HUAWEI P50 Pro is among the best in its category , although not the brightest. Its strong point is the painstaking factory calibration: already in the default configuration, in fact, the user finds in his hands a panel with excellent performance, which can also be used for professional purposes.

HARDWARE: no Kirin but there is the Snapdragon 888

HUAWEI forcibly has to abandon its Kirin and bring on this new P50 Pro the most powerful third-party processor or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 which, let’s face it, is still an excellent compromise to the homemade hardware in Shenzhen. We know the chipset well because it is used by practically all the competition in its top of the range last year and beyond.

The Snapdragon 888 SoC offers tangible performance increases for the CPU and GPU components. First of all, there is the Kryo 680 CPU which acts as the primary core, based on the Cortex-X1 and running at 2.84 GHz. At its side there is a cluster formed by 3 cores at 2.4 GHz Cortex-A78. If the latter are dedicated to the pure performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, the least expensive processes occur through the four cores, running at 1.8 GHz and based on Cortex-A55.

All this translates into an improvement in performance and energy efficiency of 25%, always taking the model it takes over as a comparison. At a graphic level, upgrade with the Adreno 660 card which also here improves by 35% in graphic processing compared to the past. In this case there is a single version that sees 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and internal 256GB internal storage for storing UFS 3.1 documents and multimedia content .

HUAWEI P50 Pro presents as always in the top of the range a Performance mode in which there will be no conservation in terms of heat and battery consumption but will offer incredible performance. The results of the CPU in Single-Core of the HUAWEI P50 Pro in GeekBench are rewarding and the Device allows it to outperform many of its competitors. The graphics performance is noteworthy even if it is not at the top of the chart. Finally, the AnTuTu test confirms how fast all phones are and how close the HUAWEI P50 Pro is to what the competition offers.

Leaving aside the ranking, know that HUAWEI P50 Pro knows how to defend itself very well just like its thermal management always below scorching temperatures which therefore allow you to continue working with the phone even in a little more extreme situations. The 120Hz screen and the resulting fluidity further enhance the impression of speed and grandeur.

Regarding connectivity , unfortunately, there is no support for the 5G network , again for the reasons due to the American ban. In this case, the network that is not of the latest generation still allows excellent results and above all it is to be emphasized the presence of very high speeds in download or upload thanks to Wi-Fi 6. The bluetooth is in version 5.2 while there is no 3.5 jack. mm for headphones but the USB-C port clearly acts not only as a charging but also as a headphone jack with the usual adapter.

How does it work in terms of telephone performance? We admit that the lack of the 5G network does not allow to equate the P50 Pro with the other devices of the current competition from this point of view but in fact the 4G LTE has absolutely no problems in reception and we have seen it work well even in more difficult situations with filming. fast from the absence of field. In calls, the ear capsule does not create distortions with excellent listening for both the caller and the receiver. Nice full-bodied speakerphone.

GRAPHICAL INTERFACE: no Google but great ecosystem!

HUAWEI P50 Pro arrives with the EMUI 12 that is the latest version of the graphic interface of the Chinese company based on Android Open Source that is the owner of the free Google operating system developed by HUAWEI. We know well that there are no Google services and therefore you do not have access to the Play Store and therefore direct downloading of applications in that way is not allowed.

HUAWEI has grown a lot since it had to abandon Google services and the so-called HUAWEI Mobile Services allow users to use the phone in the same way thanks to AppGallery, a real proprietary store where developers publish their applications.

With the OLED display it is possible to use the always-on screen mode by choosing between the various skins for the clock. Like all EMUI-based devices, you can set a Home lock style that changes the image each time the screen is activated. Swiping from the bottom will open shortcuts for some commonly used utilities.

HUAWEI tries to replace Google services by introducing some interesting proprietary applications that allow you to have a certain familiarity with daily activities. In this case comes the replacement of the Google news feed which in the new version of the EMUI is called Today. On this page, which can be activated by scrolling from left to right, you can find a search field, links to your favorite contacts, photos but also some daily news taken from the web.

On the HUAWEI P50 Pro you do not feel the lack of some service present on other Android phones: there are all the apps related to the most and less widespread social platforms, there are the banking applications working with the services of HUAWEI (the most evident heel of ‘Achille for the HUAWEI ecosystem last year) plus we find Petal Search . The company’s search widget not only allows you to find anything available online directly from the Home, but also favors the installation of applications of all kinds both from the AppGallery, both from other sources. The smartphone experience is to search for the app, download it and install it with a negligible number of touches on the screen, with a procedure that is suitable for any type of user, even the less practical one.

There is Petal Maps , the satellite navigation service that has recently introduced useful features such as “Innovative Lane Guidance” and “Offline Maps”. It works very well and the graphics introduced by HUAWEI are very user-friendly and this allows you to use the app quickly, without problems and above all with the ability to navigate precisely.

There is the Temi app to fully customize your smartphone, there is the Game Center to be able to install all the games you want on the fly, there is Books to read books directly on your smartphone, Health to monitor any health parameter with the company’s wearable accessories and HUAWEI Wallet for digital payments and Petal Clip for editing videos directly from smartphones. The new HUAWEI Ecosystem Control Center called Device + is very convenient and functional , a tab in the Settings that allows you to easily set up multi-device collaboration with other devices from the FreeBuds, MatePad and MateBook families.

We like the look and feel of the new EMUI 12. The user interface uses simple blacks, whites and blues as primary colors, giving it a clean and elegant look. Not only because there is even support for the continuous adjustment of the weight of the characters. With this feature, users are free to adjust the font size according to their preferences.

This is what we can define as a real ecosystem where users have everything at their fingertips and above all they get a complete experience therefore, not only as a smartphone, but as an element of a family of products that HUAWEI is rapidly expanding more and more. In the days of use of this HUAWEI P50 Pro we did not miss the GMS too much , and the vast majority of Google services are still accessible via browser. Clearly, those who cannot ignore the Big G services will struggle but all those who can (or want to) do without them can find an excellent personal device in the new top of the HUAWEI range.

CAMERA: always among the best

HUAWEI P50 Pro is equipped with a Quad Camera called Dual-Metrix Camera which turns out to be one of the best photographic compartments of the moment on a smartphone in everyday use. There is a lot of technology on board in that double ring structure to symbolize the infinite possibilities the user has with this smartphone. It resumes what has been done positively by HUAWEI over the years with the P series and especially with the P40 Pro in terms of experience. There is now a 50MP wide-angle camera , an Ultra Wide -angle lens, a Periscope sensor telephoto lens with 3.5x zoom, and a sensor for native black and white shots. Sensors updated both from a hardware and a software point of view.

Know that with this new HUAWEI P50 Pro, the company has worked hard to improve not so much at the hardware level but above all at the software level through artificial intelligence technology that improves the appearance of the shots. Here are the image technologies that have the ability to balance multiple lenses, to have a 10-channel multi-spectrum sensor and to be able to use HUAWEI XD Optics, XD Fusion Pro Image Engine and still other innovations of single thickness. . HUAWEI with its technologies goes to apply computational calculations to correct optical errors and reproduce extremely minute details. And XD Fusion Pro is just a solution that incorporates a system ofSuper Color filters, True-Chroma Image and Super HDR technology for the best combination of details, color and dynamic range.

The main camera now uses a large 50MP sensor with a 23mm equivalent focal length lens and a clearly optically stabilized f / 1.8 aperture. The camera has improved omnidirectional phase detection autofocus, which means it uses all pixels as focus pixels and this should contribute to faster and more accurate focusing in low light conditions. By default, the camera produces 12.5MP shots. But when you switch from 50MP mode to 12.5MP (default), you can actually notice that the high resolution photos offer a wider field of view, which means that a few crops are made to get the 12 megapixel photos.

The ultra-wide camera is a 13 megapixel lens with an aperture of f / 2.2 and a length equivalent to 13 mm. The telephoto lens has a 64MP sensor but is not visible on the back as you can only see the end of its periscope lens. The refracted light passes through a series of additional optical elements inside until it reaches the sensor, which is located perpendicular to the plane of the phone. The system also provides optical image stabilization.

The periscope lens on the P50 Pro has a 90mm equivalent length and an f / 3.5 aperture with a 3.5x optical zoom. Finally, the fourth and final camera is a throwback with a 40 MP monochrome sensor for those who want to have fun with this type of shots. It is a sensor that shoots at 10MP with a focal aperture of f / 1.6 and a length equivalent to 26mm. The selfie configuration has also been updated and now includes a single camera with a 13 MP sensor : a lens capable of reaching even 100 ° amplitude for the viewing angle and also with autofocus that the company had introduced with the P40 Pro .

HUAWEI’s camera app is pretty functional. It has a mode selector at the bottom that can be scrolled left or right. Here we are faced with some improvements compared to the past thanks above all to Artificial Intelligence. The AI even recognizes and reproduces settings for over 1,500 different scenes. It is now possible to turn the switch in the viewfinder off and on directly without having to go into the settings. Also present is the Pro mode where you can adjust the parameters yourself: ISO (from 50 to 409,600), shutter speed (from 1 / 4000s to 30s), exposure compensation (from -4 to + 4EV in increments of 1/3 stop) and white balance (presets and specific light temperature). By the way, Pro mode is also available for videos and the maximum ISO is 51.

How does the new HUAWEI P50 Pro + take photos?

  • Daytime Photos: In daytime photos, the shots are excellent. There are many details resolved even in areas of high complexity, the dynamic range is once again improved and the noise is practically invisible with vivid colors and ever closer to reality. HUAWEI has done a lot of work on the algorithm and photos with the main camera are now sharper. The P50 Pro’s camera works with the new HUAWEI XD Fusion Pro Engine True Chromawhich allows you to enhance the photos by excelling in the dynamic range. You can zoom out to a 0.85x and get the full field of view from the main camera. High-resolution mode is available, shooting in full 50MP with the main camera. It takes no more than a second and saves a high resolution photo with a slightly wider field of view than the default 12MP mode. High-resolution images have greater detail and have a wider field of view than the default mode.

    • Photo in the dark:photos taken at night without night mode with the main camera are good and always one step ahead of the others. They have a great level of detail, balanced exposure, good colors, very low noise, and level sharpness. If you activate night mode, the main benefit is that more details in the shadows are revealed but there is not much change in the highlights that were already optimal. There are no advantages in terms of detail or noise. The shots of the ultrawide camera are well balanced with high details and no noise, although the reduction of the latter is perhaps a bit aggressive. The colors are not washed out though. Most of the zoomed-in images we took at night turned out to be good even though you shouldn’t expect much and that’s normal.

  • Ultra-wide module: Ultrawide photos are remarkable. The detail is really optimal, the dynamic range is wide and there are no soft corners as well as colors that are accurate with respect to reality. We like the width that the sensor is able to obtain in the shots that are not affected too much by the barrel effects of this lens. The shot is natural but wide and the scene shot is important compared to a shot with a wide-angle sensor. The post-production work of artificial intelligence keeps possible errors at bay and the shot is almost always taken home even in less good situations.

  • Zoom:the 3.5x zoom photos of the 13MP camera turned out to be really good – they are detailed, with accurate colors, just the right sharpness, great contrast and good dynamic range. There is behind an important work of HUAWEI at the algorithmic level that can be seen on these occasions. Higher zoom images are still great. The detail is sufficient and the dynamic range is really good and HUAWEI hasn’t tried to mask the upscaling. In this case, the use of a periscope sensor allows you to capture subjects or objects at an incredible distance without forgetting the detail and stabilization. It is possible to use digital zoom up to 100x. In this case you have to ask yourself if you really want to do it. The 100x zoom option was not created for shooting. It’s hard to focus on a subject for a usable photo. However, it is also possible to shoot at 100x and the viewfinder also allows you to orient yourself on the shot but the result is practically unusable or almost unusable.

    • Selfie: The main selfie camera has a 13MP sensor and maintains autofocus. The selfies are good and the depth effect as well as the details are still treated. Selfie quality is also good for contrast and wide dynamic range.

  • Video: HUAWEI P50 Pro records video up to 4K at 60fps with both the ultrawide camera and the main camera. Shooting with the telephoto sensor is limited to 30 fps in both 4K and 1080p. Videos are very good with high contrast. Shooting in 4K has great detail at 30fps while a slight drop in sharpness at 60fps.

  • AUTONOMY: 66W fast charging!

The HUAWEI P50 Pro is equipped with an increased 4,360 mAh battery compared to that of its predecessor P40 Pro. It supports HUAWEI SuperCharge 66 W and the phone has the charger that supports it already in the sales package. It is to be expected that all this will allow for impressive results: in 30 minutes it will recharge 80% of the completely discharged battery of the P40 Pro, while a full charge will be reached in just 50 minutes. The intelligent charging support for the HUAWEI P50 Pro is very interesting: if you hook the Device during the night towards the end of the charging, it will tend to slow down completing the charge just before dawn. The new P50 Pro also supports 50W wireless charging.

On the battery life in the situation of use without Google services we noticed a good autonomy. Surely the Kirin worked in a more optimized way with the whole ecosystem but in fact the smartphone can obtain usage times that make it arrive in the evening without problems. Moreover, these basically do not change if we put the screen at 120Hz or 60Hz, the optimization seems excellent from this point of view.

CONCLUSIONS

HUAWEI P50 Pro is one of the best camera phones of the moment. This is basically the summary of everything we have told you so far in our review. The company now has an unmistakable experience in making quality products, and this new P50 Pro is a smartphone that cannot fail to be placed at the top of the actual top of the range.
