From October of this year
Hyundai will finally offer wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on models equipped with navigation. The second-generation Kona crossover was the first model to offer this capability.
Until now, Hyundai, Kia and Genesis models equipped with built-in satellite navigation have never provided customers with a wireless version of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The reason was a dispute over whether Hyundai or smartphone mirroring software would have priority access to the “navigation” shortcut button. The problem did not affect Hyundai models that did not have a factory navigation system.
Hyundai cars will finally have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
According to the latest reports, not only new Hyundai models with built-in satellite navigation will now have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity, some existing vehicles will also receive a software update.
The Korean automaker plans to roll out the update to several models, including the next-generation Kona, in the fourth quarter of this year, starting in October 2023.
The full list of models will be published in the coming months.
