IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), a global leader in the hospitality industry, is shaking things up with the introduction of innovative new prototype options for its three popular suites brands: Staybridge Suites®, Candlewood Suites®, and Atwell Suites®. This exciting announcement reflects IHG’s commitment to providing developers and owners with greater flexibility when it comes to creating extended-stay accommodations that cater to the evolving needs of today’s travelers.

Designed for Developer and Guest Success

The new prototype options prioritize two key elements: space optimization and the potential for increased efficiencies. However, IHG emphasizes that these new designs are not meant to replace existing choices – they’re meant to supplement them. This gives developers and owners more flexibility to find the perfect fit for their specific market and property type, whether it’s a new build, conversion, dual-brand project, or adaptive reuse.

Here’s a breakdown of what developers and guests can expect from the new prototype options:

Maintaining Guest-Loved Features: While space optimization is a focus, IHG assures guests that the core features they know and love will remain intact. This includes ample in-room storage, dedicated kitchen space, and inviting common areas for socializing and enjoying meals.

Specifics Will Vary: The exact dimensions and number of rooms will vary depending on the property and brand.

Focus on Comfort and Functionality: The new designs prioritize functionality and comfort, ensuring guests have designated work, sleep, and relaxation zones within their suites.

Staybridge Suites:

Introducing the Smart Studio: This new room configuration caters to shorter-stay guests and offers developers the option to include slimmer room bays (reduced from 16 feet to 13 feet).

Optimizing Guest Suites: Staybridge Suites prioritizes a balance between space efficiency and guest comfort. They achieve this by incorporating streamlined kitchen equipment and fixtures, along with optimized cabinetry, while maintaining designated work, sleep, and relaxation zones for a comfortable, residential-style stay.

Candlewood Suites:

Building on Success: The Beacon 4.2 variation builds upon the success of the brand’s 2019 design by further optimizing land usage and generating new efficiencies through increased building density.

Efficient Space Utilization: Candlewood Suites accomplishes this by implementing slimmer room bays (reduced from 15’3″ to 12’6″) that still offer fully equipped kitchens and the signature recliner guests love. Additionally, flexible room mixes and designated social areas, including semi-private and communal lobby working spaces, are incorporated into the design.

More Rooms, Same-Sized Site: The Beacon 4.2 prototype has the potential to add up to 12 additional keys on a site with similar dimensions compared to the previous design.

Atwell Suites:

Double the Lobby Options: Atwell Suites developers now have the flexibility to choose between two distinct lobby configurations. The existing two-story end-loaded design remains available, and a new one-story, centrally loaded model is now offered. Both options continue to prioritize flexible work, lounge, and bar and dining spaces.

Slimmed-Down Room Option: A new slimmer room bay option (12’6″ versus 16’8″) is now available for Atwell Suites. Despite the reduced size, this room type still includes a wet bar, sofa, and work desk, making it a comfortable and functional choice for guests. This option also offers the potential to add up to 12 additional keys on a site with similar dimensions compared to the previous design.
