Core i9-14900K – at 6 GHz
As you know, Raptor Lake Refresh processors will technically be copies of the current Raptor Lake. Some models will become faster due to the higher number of cores compared to their predecessors , but in the case of the top Core i9, there is simply nowhere to increase the number of cores, and Intel will have to increase the frequencies. According to recent data, the Core i9-14900K is likely to run at around 6GHz.
Intel has nowhere to go: it will have to increase the frequencies even more.
That is, technically it can be a complete copy of the Core i9-13900KS, which just boasts such a frequency. The Core i9-13900K, recall, has a frequency of up to 5.8 GHz.
At the same time, the Core i9-14900KS can operate at a frequency of already 6.2 GHz, thus setting a new record and becoming the first consumer x86-bit CPU with an operating frequency above 6 GHz out of the box. Core i9-1390KS, we recall, was the first such processor with a frequency of exactly 6 GHz.
However, all this means that the Core i9-14900K / KS will not bring any significant performance increase relative to their predecessors, since, apart from a slight increase in frequencies, no other changes are expected.
At the same time, the Core i9-13900KS can already consume over 350 W under load, and about 420 W during overclocking, so the consumption of the Core i9-14900KS can already approach 400 W out of the box.
