Transsion owns Tecno, Infinix and iTel
The second quarter of this year ended with a drop in sales of smartphones even from Apple.
Canalys analysts assessed the market and concluded that it sank by 10%, to 258.2 million smartphones. At the same time, many major players showed a decline in sales stronger than the market as a whole.
Is it time to compare Tecno and Infinix with Apple? The smartphone market is falling
The leader represented by Samsung sold 53 million smartphones, which is 14% lower than the result of a year ago. For Apple, the decline in sales was 13%, to 43 million devices. The top three was closed by Xiaomi, which sold 33.2 million smartphones, which is 16% less than a year ago.
Oppo sank by 8%, to 25.2 million, but Transsion managed not only to increase sales, but to increase by a considerable 22%, to 22.7 million. As a result, the company ranks fifth in the world and becomes one of the strongest players. For most users, Transsion is better known for its brands: Tecno, Infinix and iTel.
Apparently, the release of cheap and fairly well-equipped smartphones, and even often distinguished by an unusual design, turned out to be the right strategy, including in a crisis.
