Mid 2020s
Honda discontinued its Prelude two-door sports coupe in 2001, but now the Japanese brand is preparing to revive the legendary model.
The company presented the Prelude concept car at the Japan Mobility Show . The sports coupe turned out to be a hybrid, as a company representative explained. Now Honda chief engineer Tomoyuki Yamagami has shared some facts with Australian magazine CarsGuide.
Yamagami said that a production car is currently in development and that the goal is for it to go on sale “sometime in the mid-2020s.”
It became known when the Honda Prelude will be released
He further mentioned that this will be a global model as it is being developed for both left-hand drive and right-hand drive markets. Yamagami declined to go into detail about the hybrid powertrain, but noted that it won’t be a hardcore sports car: “It won’t be the sportiest, fastest car to lap the track.”
He explained that the production model will be “the prelude to all the electric vehicles that Honda is going to release.”
