Launch of Resurs-P satellite for Earth observation postponed for next year
It became known that the launch of the fourth space satellite for Earth observation, “Resurs-P,” was postponed to the next year. RIA Novosti writes about it concerning the materials of the state corporation “Roscosmos,” published on the portal of state purchases.
Recall that the first three Resurs-P vehicles were launched into orbit in 2013-2016. The fourth and fifth satellites’ launches were originally planned for 2018-2019 but were repeatedly postponed. It has become known that the fourth Resource-P satellite will be launched in 2022, whereas it was initially supposed to happen this year.
” Spacecraft” Resurs-P “number 4 – the term of manufacture, delivery, and transportation to the Baikonur cosmodrome in November 2022 “- the source cites the message of “Roskosmos.”
Last year, Dmitry Baranov, General Director of the Progress Rocket and Space Center, said that the reason for the postponement of the Resurs-P satellite launches is the absence of some necessary components their manufacture and are supplied by external enterprises.
Resurs-P spacecraft are delivered into outer space using Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicles from the Baikonur cosmodrome site. It is assumed that in 2023-2024 satellites of the new generation Resurs-PM will be launched into orbit, which will be launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome on Soyuz-2.1b rockets. The devices themselves, “Resurs-P,” are intended for highly detailed, wide-coverage, and hyperspectral optical-electronic observation of the Earth’s surface in the Ministry of Natural Resources’ interests the Ministry of Emergencies, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rosreestr, Roshydromet, and Rosrybolovstvo.
