The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid saga has been ongoing for years, but it seems that a resolution may finally be within reach. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), aware of their star player’s desire to leave this season, has communicated to Real Madrid the transfer fee they are willing to accept, which is very close to 250 million euros. The player’s mother, Faiza Lamary, has played a role in this communication with the Los Blancos board.

However, Real Madrid is hesitant to pay such a high amount for a player who only has one year left on his current contract. Despite this, the situation is becoming decisive as Real Madrid can now activate the signing at any time or postpone it until the next season, which was their initial plan at the end of May. The departure of Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia changed their strategy.

This advantage lies with the Spanish club, and PSG is aware that if they don’t lower their demands before August 31 and reach an agreement, Mbappe is prepared to honor his contract and leave after June 30, 2024, without any compensation to PSG.

Although PSG has asked for 250 million euros, recent leaks about offers from other clubs, such as Al-Hilal, have not swayed their stance. PSG left Mbappe out of their pre-season tour to Japan as a measure of pressure, but it seems to have had little effect.

The truth behind the scenes is that a transfer is likely the best solution for all parties involved. Mbappe has made it clear that he has only two options in mind: either staying in Paris for the remaining year or being transferred to Real Madrid.

The negotiations have been handled through intermediaries, as Real Madrid has not directly contacted PSG. An agreement has already been reached between Mbappe’s mother and the Iranian intermediary, Kia Joorabchian, appointed by PSG to negotiate with her and Mbappe’s lawyer, Delphine Verheyden.

While time is ticking, both sides seem unwilling to budge. Real Madrid is waiting for a response from the lawyer or the mother with a price they are willing to pay. If the negotiation fails, Mbappe is prepared to spend another year in Paris, which could be financially beneficial for him.

Mbappe is also conscious of having disappointed Real Madrid last year by renewing his contract with PSG. Although PSG has accused Real Madrid of having an agreement with Mbappe for 2024, it is likely the same deal that was already agreed upon between the club and the player last year, pending only Mbappe’s signature.

As the transfer window deadline approaches, the situation remains tense, and the resolution could occur at any moment, depending on the willingness of both parties to reach an agreement.

The only difference with the one that can be signed in the coming days is that this time the French striker will not receive the 130m euro signing-on bonus that had been negotiated when he was set to arrive on a free transfer.

The fact is that all parties will have had to give in on their financial demands if a transfer, that of the best player to the most successful club in the world, which has been a long time coming but seems closer than ever, finally takes place.
