Along with the MEG Z490 Godlike and MEG Z490 Ace motherboards, MSI introduced four MPG series cards, also designed for 10th generation Intel Core processors installed in the LGA 1200 socket: These are the MPG Z490 Gaming Carbon WiFi, MPG Z490 Gaming Edge WiFi, MPG Z490M Gaming Edge WiFi and MPG Z490 Gaming Plus. Unlike the flagship MEG series, MSI MPG motherboards are mid-range.

The components of the Duet Rail power subsystem and chipset are cooled by aluminum radiators. In the case of the MPG Z490 Gaming Carbon WiFi board, the chipset heatsink is increased, and the radiators on the voltage regulators are supplemented with a heat pipe.
Like other MSI 400-series motherboards, the described models are equipped with 2.5GbE and Wi-Fi 6 network interfaces. A feature of the MPG Z490 Gaming Carbon WiFi and MPG Z490 Gaming Edge WiFi is a USB 3.2 interface with a bandwidth of up to 20 Gb / s, built on ASMedia 3241 controller.
