The partner of MTS is the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, which is under the yoke of tough US sanctions. Within the framework of the project, during 2020-2022, Huawei will supply and install on the MTS network the latest radio access equipment, consisting of multiband remote radio modules and Massive MIMO antenna systems, as well as software to replace existing 2G / 3G / 4G hardware and software systems.

The modernization will affect all MTS sites in Moscow, as well as in cities and towns of the Moscow region. After the installation of new equipment, the bandwidth and capacity of the LTE network will grow at least three times.

In the future, it will be possible to quickly deploy coverage in the 5G standard on the upgraded network by reconfiguring the software and using the technology of dynamic reallocation of the frequency spectrum between 4G and 5G standards.

The implementation of the project will help MTS to cope with the growing consumption of mobile traffic. In addition, the operator will be able to optimize the network infrastructure and reduce operating costs.
