We need to strengthen localization and reduce logistics costs

Production Director of the Moscow Automobile Plant Oleg Maslyakov confirmed that Muscovites could become cheaper if a number of conditions are met.

“Reducing the cost is possible, but it is worth considering all the factors that we have at once. Of course, the first priority is active localization of production. Localization is already underway (the plant has begun test welding and painting of bodies) and will continue to develop, but one of the main factors of its effectiveness is volume,” said Oleg Maslyakov.

He added that the plant should focus on localization and the speedy “revitalization” of the network of Russian suppliers, who also have the competencies and basic means of production: “Correctly executed localization in the right volumes will have a positive effect on the price of the product.”

In addition to localization, he mentioned a reduction in logistics costs, production costs and fixed costs as factors that would reduce the price of cars.

Let us remind you that Moskvich plans to increase production in parallel with the development of sales and expansion of the dealer network. The target for next year  is 50 thousand cars . Today it also  became known that the Russian family crossover “Moskvich 8” – the largest in the brand’s line – will be presented in 2024. In addition, the plant plans to supply cars to other countries .
