Mini has unveiled the new John Cooper Works Countryman. The automaker introduced a battery-electric version earlier this year, but the John Cooper Works Countryman variant remains powered by an internal combustion engine. The third generation model has more power than the previous hatchback and a completely new design.
Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and the company’s ALL4 all-wheel drive system. In the US, it produces 312 hp, up from 301 hp in the previous generation.
The new Countryman can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km/h. The high-performance brakes are finished in Chili Red. The car’s 245 mm tires are mounted on exclusive 19- or 20-inch wheels.
A circular OLED display is located in the center of the dashboard, and below it there is a row of toggle switches for controlling the main functions of the car. A red and black color scheme adorns the dashboard, door panels and sports seats.

The new Countryman will support Level 2 autonomous driving with the optional Driving Assistant Professional Package. The car is equipped with 12 ultrasonic sensors and four all-round cameras, and the system allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel on certain routes at speeds of up to 60 km/h. The system requires the driver to closely monitor traffic and be ready to take back control.
New Mini Experience modes have been added that drivers can select from the infotainment screen. This allows drivers to select specific backgrounds and sounds. The car has a go-kart mode that suppresses engine sound inside the cabin, and a mini projector on the rear OLED screen can paint the dashboard with unique colors and patterns.
The starting price will be $47,895. The first samples will begin arriving at dealers in early May, and production for the US market will begin in March next year.
