Their differences from previously announced versions have not yet been disclosed
Toyota continues to expand its line of cars that are officially sold in China, announcing the imminent release of the new Land Cruiser J250 and the Crown sedan. The models appeared in official FAW Toyota teasers on November 17, ahead of their debut at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show.
The Toyota Crown sedan was recently unveiled in Japan and looks identical to last year’s prototype, and the Chinese version looks the same. At the moment, there is no information about the line of power units in China. In Japan, the Crown sedan is available in hybrid and fuel cell electric form, with prices ranging from $48,300 to $54,900.
As for the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, powertrains for the Chinese market are also unknown, but there is a possibility that the Chinese SUV will receive petrol, hybrid and diesel variants available in other regions. The option with unique engines is not excluded.
New Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Crown sedan to be produced by FAW Toyota joint venture in China
The question remains whether the Crown Sedan and Land Cruiser Prado will be produced at FAW’s Tianjin plant in China. While most FAW Toyota models are made locally, there are also imported models, including the Crown SUV, which is sold in China as the Crown SportCross.
Several Toyota models, including the Corolla, Corolla Cross, C-HR, RAV4, Highlander and bZ4x, are offered in the Chinese market by both FAW and GAC, under different names and slightly different configurations.
It remains to be seen whether GAC Toyota will introduce its versions of the Land Cruiser Prado and Crown Sedan in the future.
