For SoC production on Intel 18A process technology
Intel and Arm have announced an agreement under which the former will produce products based on the architecture of the latter.
More specifically, Intel Foundry Services will manufacture Arm-based SoCs using its upcoming Intel 18A process technology. The press release said that the cooperation will primarily focus on mobile SoCs, but will also allow the production of automotive solutions, platforms for IoT devices, solutions for the data center and the aerospace industry.
Next generation Snapdragon SoC could be made by Intel?
The demand for computing power associated with the digitization of everything is growing, but until now, factoryless manufacturers have had limited ability to design with the most advanced mobile technologies. Intel’s collaboration with Arm will expand market opportunities for IFS and open up new opportunities and approaches for any under-capacity company that wants access to best-in-class IP processors and the power of an open system factory with advanced workflows.
Simply put, conditional Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Gen 4 can theoretically be produced at Intel facilities, although so far, of course, there is no such data.
