The platform will be launched on June 14
The former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, which AvtoVAZ became the new owner at the beginning of the year, is now called Lada St. Petersburg LLC. The resolution, which allows the use of the name of the city, was signed by the governor of the city Alexander Beglov.
“To allow limited liability company Nissan Manufacturing Rus to include Saint Petersburg in its official name,” Alexander Beglov said in a statement.
Nissan is in the past. The plant was renamed “Lada St. Petersburg”
Production at the new site is planned on the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), June 14. The first new AvtoVAZ model will be the Lada X-Cross 5 based on the FAW Bestune T77. By the end of the year, the plant plans to produce about 10,000 vehicles. Altogether, AvtoVAZ plans to produce about 400,000 vehicles this year.
Over the next two years, AvtoVAZ plans to put into production at least two more models at this site.
