Yesterday’s announcement of the Thunderbolt 4 interface caused a lot of questions. For example, it is unclear why Thunderbolt 4 is not faster than Thunderbolt 3. In addition, Intel’s requirement to implement protection against DMA attacks using Intel VT-d technology hinted that Thunderbolt 4 could only be implemented on PCs with Intel processors.

Apple told the source that it will continue to use Thunderbolt, including in future PCs with Apple Silicon processors. True, the wording of Apple itself does not indicate which particular Thunderbolt standard will be used, but since the company answered a very specific question from journalists, we can safely talk about Thunderbolt 4.
The question with AMD processors remains open, but, apparently, in this case, the problem is also somehow solved.
