Officially: Streets of Rage 4 will have a paid add-on and a new content patch, and sales of the game exceeded 2.5 million copies

A recent leak has proven credible: the old-school action game Streets of Rage 4 from Dotemu, Lizardcube, and Guard Crush Games will indeed receive the Mr. X Nightmare. And, as it turned out from the official announcement, not only.

According to Mr. X Nightmare, after the final Streets of Rage 4, the game heroes decided to organize a special training session to prepare for possible threats in the future.

The initiative involves implementing an artificial intelligence program based on the surviving brain cells of Mr. X – the main villain from the first installments of Streets of Rage – and capable of simulating any potential danger.

The addon will offer three more playable characters (one of them will be Estelle), a survival mode with weekly challenges, a system of individualization of heroes (including their own fighting style), new opponents, and weapons.

Mr. X Nightmare will go on sale (DLC will not be free) before the end of this year for all target platforms of the main game – PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Simultaneously with Mr. X, Nightmare will premiere a free content patch that adds a new difficulty level (New Mania +) to Streets of Rage 4, a comprehensive tutorial system, and an additional color palette.

Streets of Rage 4 was released in April 2020. Since the release, the game’s total sales in all target platforms’ digital services have exceeded 2.5 million copies.
