The console itself will be released later this year.
Last year, Panic, the creator of the famous Firewatch game, introduced the very unusual Playdate handheld game console. Based on a combination of factors, it can be called the most unusual portable set-top box for many years, although it is worth keeping in mind that it has not yet been released. Initially, they planned to release it at the beginning of this year, but the situation in the world made adjustments, so the announcement was postponed. There is no new date, but they promise to release this year.

But, despite the fact that Playdate has not yet entered the market, it has already distinguished itself by porting to it, probably the most portable game in history – Doom.
Keen Games developer Nick Manger did it. The game, of course, will not officially appear on the console, but, perhaps, after the console is released, everyone can download it on their own. In the meantime, we can once again look at the working console, at the same time evaluating how the game really looks on it
