In Proteus, players control an agent “eager to destroy his creator and everyone who gets in the way” According to the developers, the shooter is characterized by the quality “that gamers expect from AAA-standard projects” They promise fast-paced gameplay, “hellish” destruction, dynamic soundtrack that sounds in sync with the gameplay, exciting battles, and many secrets. Other features include “outrageous visuals, a stunning dismemberment system, and endless streams of blood

Users will be able to customize the interface (up to extreme options – leave as many indicators on the screen or hide them completely), choose between sprite and 3D models of enemies, and change the viewing angle. Blood splashes are simulated using special technology, allowing players to literally paint the levels with enemy blood.

Along with Woller, designer Jason Mojica is leading the development of the project. They are involved in the creation of the first two Call of Duty: Black Ops, BioShock Infinite, Payday 2, and  Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. The team also includes remote artists and designers. The game was presented in 2018, and in March 2019, the authors launched a Kickstarter campaign, during which 2,808 people donated more than $ 105,000 – twice the amount requested.

Proteus will run on systems with a 4-core processor with a clock speed of at least 2 GHz, at least 2 GB of RAM and a video card of the level of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 and AMD Radeon HD 7870. The recommended requirements specify an 8-core processor with a clock speed of 3 GHz, 6 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560 graphics card. The shooter will require 4 GB of free hard disk space.

Proteus was originally planned to be released in 2019, but the release was postponed three times. At the start, the project will not include a network component and support for user-generated content, but the developers promise to release updates for the shooter for a long time. The “powerful and intuitive” level editor can be launched directly from the main menu. The game will be released in English only.

In early August, another old-school shooter was released – Hellbound. It has garnered quite a few positive reviews on Steam. January 2021 will see the release of Undaunted: The First Heresy, inspired by Heretic, Hexen, and Doom and featuring roguelike elements.
