It took only 74th place in the global DxOMark rankings.

When announcing the 200-megapixel Redmi Note 12 Pro+ last year, Redmi didn’t skimp on its camera. Now DxOMark specialists have published a volume test of the model’s camera, and it looks like a real failure: with its 74th place and 113 points, Redmi Note 12 Pro + lost not only to all flagships of the current and last year, but even to such mid-range models as Honor 70, Nothing Phone (1) and OnePlus Nord 2T 5G.

Among the advantages, experts noted good exposure, wide dynamic range and decent white balance in low light, fairly good detail in bright light, low noise in bright light, accurate and fast autofocus when shooting video.

But there are more cons. These are distortions and chromatic aberrations in photos taken with an ultra wide-angle lens, various artifacts when shooting photos indoors, slow autofocus when shooting photos in high-contrast scenes, indoors and in low light. Video stabilization is not bad, but human movement (walking) is still noticeable.

Judging by the comments, it becomes clear that just one 200-megapixel sensor is not enough: you need a good stabilization system, reliable autofocus and, of course, high-quality optics. In general, this is another example of the fact that when shooting photos and videos, it’s not megapixels that decide at all.
