Samsung Electronics presented today at the Galaxy Unpacked event not only the latest generation of its Galaxy Z Flip5 clamshell smartphone , but also the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic line of smartwatches.
The series boasts a 20 percent larger AMOLED screen with sapphire glass. The watch works like a personal trainer, providing in-depth sleep analysis with sleep scoring factors and personalized sleep reports developed in collaboration with the National Sleep Foundation. Improved route tracking has also been added, including the ability to track running and walking workouts in addition to regular walking and cycling. In total, more than 100 training modes are supported. In addition, the watch monitors blood pressure, pulse, skin temperature, blood oxygen levels, has an ECG function, irregular heart rate alerts, fall detection.
The latest Galaxy Watch has more features to control a connected Galaxy phone. For example, the already familiar remote shooting, switching between photo and video, has added the ability to zoom and change modes.
Samsung Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic introduced with rotating bezel
The 44mm version of the Galaxy Watch6 and the 47mm version of the Galaxy Watch6 Classic received a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels and a full-color Always-On Display. The battery has a capacity of 425 mAh. Versions for 40 and 43 mm – a 1.3-inch screen with a resolution of 432 x 432 pixels, as well as a 300 mAh battery. Battery life reaches 40 hours.
The hardware basis was SoC Samsung Exynos W930, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory. The software basis was Wear OS Powered by Samsung (Wear OS 4) with the One UI 5 Watch shell. LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz), NFC, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo are supported. Ruggedized to military standard MIL-STD-810H, water resistant (5ATM, IP68).
With the Galaxy Watch6 Classic, the company has brought back a much-loved feature of its old watch – the rotating bezel. It can be used to navigate and control the watch face. This feature disappeared from Samsung watches with the release of the Galaxy Watch5.
Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic will begin in a number of countries starting today, July 26, 2023. Open sales will start on August 11th.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 is priced at $299.99 for the 40mm non-cellular version, while the LTE version is priced at $349.99). The 44mm base version is $329.99 and the LTE version is $379.99.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic is $399.99 for the 43mm non-cellular base version and $449.99 for the LTE version. The 47mm version will cost $429.99 without cellular and $479.99 with LTE.
