230-240 million units

Samsung may have a very difficult year in the smartphone market. According to analysts’ forecasts, the company’s annual shipments of smartphones may fall to 230-240 million units.

Firstly, this is less than last year, when Samsung sold 258 million smartphones, and secondly, it is much less than Samsung’s own forecast, which was set at 270 million. If sales really fall below 250 million, this will be the worst indicator. for Samsung over the past 10 years.

Samsung hasn’t had such bad sales for 10 years.

The situation is due to the prevailing market conditions. In addition, now in times of crisis, the segment of mid-budget smartphones is feeling the worst, and this is just the Galaxy A line, which accounts for 70% of all Samsung sales.

In the first quarter of 2023, Samsung sold 60 million smartphones, down 20% from a year ago. At the same time, interestingly, the operating profit of the Mobile Experience division grew by 3.1%. Here the company has to thank the good starting sales of the Galaxy S23 flagships.

However, in the second quarter, the influence of flagship new products will decrease, and analysts expect an even more significant drop in shipments.
