Samsung smartphone production drops due to Qualcomm chip shortage

Samsung, one of the world’s largest smartphone suppliers, has been affected by the ongoing shortage of Qualcomm SoCs. Shortages hit Samsung’s low-end and mid-range models, according to insiders. Earlier it was reported that Qualcomm’s flagship platform Snapdragon 888 is also in short supply. However, it is not yet known how this will affect the supply of Samsung’s flagship mobile phones.

Samsung isn’t the only manufacturer experiencing a chip shortage. Earlier, Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi China and general manager of the Redmi brand, confirmed that the partners’ warehouses essentially do not have the necessary components.

Sources confirm that they noted that there is currently a shortage of SoCs for mobile phones, power management ICs and other components.

The deficit is expected to last until the end of 2021.
