Counterpoint Technology Market Research estimates that around 2.8 million smartphones equipped with flexible screens have been shipped worldwide this year. The undisputed leader in this segment is the South Korean giant Samsung.

It is noted that at present, Europe remains the largest sales region for flexible smartphones with a share of about 29%. South Korea is in second place with 26%, and China closes the top three with a result of 25%.

Samsung currently controls almost three-quarters of the world market for mobile devices equipped with flexible screens: at the end of this year, the company’s share was 73%. In other words, of the 2.8 million flexible smartphones shipped, approximately 2.04 million carried the Samsung brand.

All other flexible phone vendors, including Motorola and Huawei, collectively managed only 27% of the global industry.

In 2021, the situation should change. In particular, the announcement of flexible smartphones from Google, OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi is expected. Other companies are likely to present their devices with flexible displays.

According to analysts, in 2022 the global market for flexible cellular devices will reach 22 million units.
