Samsung unveils flexible 5G smartphone Galaxy Z Flip 5G worth $ 1,450

After a string of rumors and leaks, Samsung has officially unveiled a 5G version of its Galaxy Z Flip foldable phone. It was named simply Galaxy Z Flip 5G and, in addition to supporting new generation networks, is almost identical to the original model. Major changes include a 5G modem, Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, and a $ 1,449.99 price tag. That’s $ 70 more than the 4G version.

The original Galaxy Z Flip was arguably the best foldable phone, despite a number of obvious shortcomings inherent in this kind of new electronics. While the Z Flip doesn’t fold completely, it is well-designed and has proven itself to be more durable than other foldable phones (again, it’s relative). The main drawback, however, is still the price.

Samsung has cleverly left the Galaxy Z Flip 5G with no noticeable changes – rumored to be focused on developing the Galaxy Fold 2. This foldable device is expected to arrive very soon alongside other devices such as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra or the new Galaxy headphones. Buds. Samsung plans to host an event on August 5, which is to showcase all of these new devices.

In fact, the Z Flip 5G was also expected to be announced on August 5th, but it looks like Samsung has decided to unload the upcoming presentation somewhat so that the Note 20 gets more attention. By the way, the Z Flip 5G, although it retained the format, received a new finish: two color options Mystic Gray and Mystic Bronze – both have a matte texture, so they should collect fewer prints.

Along with a slightly updated processor and 5G modem (only works below 6 GHz – millimeter waves are not supported), Samsung has also added a few small software improvements. For example, YouTube should now correctly enter Flex mode when the smartphone is half-folded; and the Samsung camera app will work in more angles. Samsung also said the Edge Panel feature is more robust – hopefully, the Z Flip will get the standard full-featured Galaxy panel rather than the limited multi-window functionality.

In the US, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G should arrive in both carrier-specific and unlocked versions starting August 7th. It will be available through AT&T and T-Mobile, as well as Samsung’s website, Best Buy, and Amazon.
