Samsung’s next generation TVs to join Quantum Mini LED family

The South Korean company Samsung has sent an application to IP Australia to register the Quantum Mini LED trademark. The next-generation smart TVs are expected to be released under this name.

The description of the application, as noted by the resource LetsGoDigital, is very laconic. The document states that the Quantum Mini LED brand can be used for TVs and television sets.

Thus, there is no doubt that Samsung is preparing Quantum Dot (QLED) panels with Mini LED backlight technology. This system uses an array of microscopic LEDs to provide local dimming facilities. The result is OLED-level contrast at a significantly lower cost.

The first Samsung Quantum Mini LED TV panels are expected to be announced next year. It is possible that such TVs will be presented at the CES 2021 consumer electronics exhibition, which will be held from January 11 to 14 in a fully digital format.

According to available information, for 2021, Samsung is targeting the production of 2 million smart TVs with screens using Mini LED backlighting.
