It is available in two versions – with SoC Apple M2 Max and M2 Ultra

With the 15-inch MacBook Air, Apple today introduced the second-generation Mac Studio. The device is presented in two versions: on SoC Apple M2 Max and based on the latest M2 Ultra.

Due to the new single-chip systems, the new generation of Mac Studio has become much more powerful – the computer allows you to edit 8K video, create complex 3D models, etc.

Apple says Mac Studio on the M2 Max platform is 50% faster than the first generation Mac Studio and four times (!) Faster than the most powerful 27-inch iMac powered by Intel. Mac Studio on SoC M2 Max is configured with 12-core CPU, 38-core GPU, up to 96 GB of unified memory with 400 GB/s bandwidth.

The performance of the version on the M2 Ultra is about twice that of the versions on the M2 Max. What’s more, Mac Studio on the M2 Ultra is up to three times faster than the first generation Mac Studio on the M1 Ultra, and six (!) times faster than the top-end 27-inch iMac powered by Intel. This model is configured with a 24-core CPU, 76-core GPU, and up to 192 GB of unified memory with an 800 GB/s bus.

The new Mac Studios have received support for 8K video output via the HDMI port. Apple says the SoC M2 Ultra version supports up to six Pro Display XDR monitors. The computer also got built-in WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 adapters.

The second-generation Mac Studio received four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter, and two USB-A ports. That’s all on the back, two more USB-C ports and an SD card slot on the front.

The price starts at $ 2,000 for the most affordable version on the SoC M2 Max. Pre-orders are accepted from today, deliveries start next week.
