Segway Unveils Apex H2 Hybrid Motorcycle Concept Powered By Hydrogen And Electricity

Segway, a subsidiary of Ninebot, has become aware of plans to release the Apex H2 motorcycle, which will receive a futuristic design with “floating” wheels and equipped with a hybrid power plant that can use the energy of hydrogen and electricity. Now there are only renders showing the future bike concept, but the manufacturer intends to present its final version in 2023.

The motorcycle, which the developers plan to release on the market in two years, now looks like a vehicle suitable for a science fiction film hero. The bike uses two one-sided swingarms to create the impression that the wheels are floating in the air. One of the features of the Apex H2 will be a unique suspension, similar to the RADD system of James Parker, which was used in the Yamaha GTS 1000 motorcycle, and is a cantilever wheel mounting system with special rods and pivots responsible for steering and damping.

Another feature of Apex H2 is the use of hydrogen fuel cells as an energy source. They are located on the side and allow quick replacement when needed. Segway claims the hybrid motorcycle will deliver 60 kW of power, equivalent to 80 horsepower. Simultaneously, acceleration to 100 km / h will take only 4 seconds, and the maximum speed will be 150 km / h. How long such a bike can travel without recharging is still unknown.

As for the cost of the Apex H2, the retail price of the bike will be $ 10,700. Of course, this project is very ambitious for the Segway brand, but if it is successfully implemented, the manufacturer’s image will change forever.
