Ross Young, founder, and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) presented concept renders of the Huawei Mate X2 smartphone based on available information and patent documents.

As previously reported, the device will be equipped with a flexible screen that folds into the body. This will protect the panel from damage during wearing and daily use.


The display is said to be 8.03 inches diagonally. Thus, in its expanded form, the user, in fact, will receive a tablet at his disposal. By the way, the Huawei Mate X smartphone is also equipped with an 8-inch flexible screen, but in this model, the panel folds outward.

The renders show that the Huawei Mate X2 has a thick section in one of the sides. This unit will contain a dual front-facing camera, a vertical strip sub-display, and a slot for storing an electronic pen.

The main display is rumored to have a refresh rate of 120Hz. A camera with four optical modules will be located at the back. It is not yet clear what hardware platform will form the basis of the Mate X2: the US sanctions have created serious difficulties for Huawei in terms of the production of mobile processors.
