So much for the vaunted durability of the new iPhone 15 Pro Max.

It is unclear what causes this behavior of the device

Well-known blogger JerryRigEverything got to the brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max to subject it to his standard set of tests.

Interestingly, the very first test of glass hardness, which is often useless, since all protective glass is almost identical in hardness, is very interesting in the case of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

As you can see, a tool with a hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale, although it scratches glass, but very slightly. Typically, such a tool leaves much more pronounced and deep scratches. It’s unclear what Apple has done with its Ion-X glass in the new generation, but it works.

However, as we saw yesterday, it’s still not worth dropping your smartphone on the floor, since in this case, it’s not the hardness of the glass that’s important.

So much for the vaunted durability of the new iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The second useless test – and again something unexpected. The screen did not react in any way to heating with a lighter. Yes, in practice this does not mean anything, since in real life such a situation is unlikely to happen, but it means that technically something has changed in the new Apple flagship compared to its predecessors and in comparison with all other smartphones.

But the iPhone 15 Pro Max unexpectedly failed the most useful test from a practical point of view. No, it does not bend when hand force is applied, but the rear glass cracked almost immediately as soon as the blogger started trying to bend the smartphone. It’s hard to say offhand, but perhaps no other smartphone behaved this way in this test.

This is a problem since it turns out that users may not worry about scratches or the fact that the smartphone can be bent, but they must worry about the fact that its back glass can be damaged from not the greatest force.
