Sony unveils mid-range Xperia 10 III – OLED display, water resistance and 5G

In addition to the flagship Xperia 1 III and 5 III smartphones, Sony also unveiled the mid-range Xperia 10 III. In comparison with the previous generation, this device received support for 5G, an OLED display, a 4500 mAh battery, and much more, although it looks like its predecessor in appearance.

The Sony Xperia 10 III has a 6-inch FHD + OLED HDR widescreen display. The screen has an aspect ratio of 21: 9, a resolution of 2520 × 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 60 Hz with a touch layer frequency of 120 Hz, a DCI-P3 color gamut of 97%, and output in 10-bit mode, and a protective glass with Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

The heart of the device is a single-chip 8nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 5G system. It works in conjunction with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of high-speed storage UFS 2.1. If such storage is not enough, support for microSD memory cards up to 1 TB is provided.

In terms of cameras, there are three modules on the back with not particularly outstanding characteristics: main 12-megapixel f / 1.8 (1 / 2.8 ″ sensor, angle of view 75 °), ultra-wide-angle 8-megapixel f / 2.2 ( 1/4 ″, 120 °), and 8-megapixel f / 2.4 (1/4 ″) telephoto. The front is a front-facing 8-megapixel camera with f / 2 (1/4 ″, 78 °) aperture.

Other specs include a 4500mAh battery with 30W high-speed charging, side-mounted fingerprint reader, dual SIM support, USB-C 3.1 port, IP65 / IP68 water, and dust resistance rating, 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and GPS / GLONASS.

Sony also gave the device a 3.5mm headphone jack and support for LDAC, Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Audio Wireless, DSEE Ultimate, stereo recording, Qualcomm aptX HD audio. The dimensions of the Xperia 10 III are 154 × 68 × 8.3 mm and weighs 169 g. Four colors are announced: white, black, pink, and blue (protective covers are also available in corresponding versions). The price has not yet been announced, and the launch is promised in early summer.
